the wind in my sails ⛵️
my battery and/or alternator and/or a fuse related to my brake light went the way of the lord this good friday.
i was in milwaukee yesterday to see some friends, and as i'm wont to do, i carelessly killed my engine while parking to do a cough drop drop off for my buddy. when i tried to turned it back on, all the power disappeared.
my friends here helped me try to jumpstart it with two different cars. no dice. then we cleaned out the terminals for the battery to no avail.

our last idea was the most effective: push it somewhere else. i stayed inside with the door creaked open to hear while i steered and parking-braked the car. a gang of milwaukee's finest young animators, drummers, vegan chefs, and kendama magicians came out to push me into a pizzeria parking lot.
it was very symbolic for me: all i did was steer and tell some cops to move out of the way, but they were the ones pushing my life forward. they're my galley slaves of old with chains forged from amity instead of ottoman iron, each of them writing their own don quijotes between strokes.

they were – or rather, they are – the wind in my sails.
